Trees in the bay

…started 12 years ago as an homage to our community when Suzi Beck could not find a ‘Long Beach enough’ gift to send to her friends outside of Southern California for the holidays. What started as one-off gifts to friends and family quickly exploded. Suzi came to be known as ‘The Tree Lady’ and people in the Long Beach area would anxiously await the arrival of the trees (both in the water and Suzi’s unique creation) every holiday season.

Unfortunately, in May of 2020, Suzi was diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer and began her treatments that summer. Knowing that she could not make the trees by herself in the Fall, she leaned on her daughters (Sara and Emmy), as well as their close community of friends and family, to make the trees happen in a big way that year! It was a great season and we know she felt the love as everyone came together to help out.

In 2021, after a difficult fight, Suzi passed away surrounded by her family. It has been an extremely tough year as we learn to navigate the world without her, and we know she is with us every day in spirit. Among the many ways we want to honor her legacy is to keep ‘Trees In The Bay’ alive. We think she would love to see us all together, making her trees, sharing stories, and enjoying our time together.

This year, in the spirit of giving back to our community, we will be donating a portion of proceeds to Partners of Parks, the organization in Long Beach that helps maintain the real light up trees in our bay/waterways.

Thank you for your support and we are looking forward to a great holiday season!

With love,

The Beck Family

We’re working hard to hand make the trees, but we’re having fun doing it! We love seeing delighted families and hearing about special holiday memories from our customers when they come to pick up their trees.
